Background:
Medina High School is a co-educational, 13 to 19, comprehensive school situated on the outskirts of Newport on the Fairlee Road on the main route from Newport to East Cowes and Ryde. It is a community school, which was opened in purpose-built accommodation in September 1976. It has excellent facilities and a superb location. The school has its own 420-seat theatre, swimming pool and sports complex and is surrounded by extensive playing fields. During 1995-96 a sports hall and fitness suite were built to provide additional facilities for the whole community including its students. A wide range of sports and recreational activities including trampolining, step aerobics, soccer, basketball, rugby, netball, hockey, cricket and horse riding. The school has been represented at all levels from the Isle of Wight to national championships. The school aims to provide an environment in which all staff experience a sense of professional well-being and are willing to give of their best.
